About Us
Colorado Spine Therapy, LLC is a physical therapist owned private practice and provider of non-surgical spinal physical therapy aiming to address all preventative, interventional and management components related to spinal rehabilitation (i.e., the physical, psychological, spiritual, nutritional and ergonomical components).
An evidence-based approach to spinal care will be the standard in which outcomes are determined using only measures described in peer reviewed spinal journals.
Stefan JH van Duursen, PT, MSc, MTC, Cert.MDT, FAAOMPT
Mr. van Duursen graduated in 1991 with a BSc in physiotherapy from the School for Higher Education in the Netherlands.
In 1996 he completed a certification in manual therapy at the University of St. Augustine in St. Augustine, Florida.
Following this certification he completed a one year fellowship in orthopedic manual physical therapy in 1998 and went on to receive his MSc in orthopedic physical therapy in 2000, again through University of St. Augustine in Florida.
In 2005 Mr. van Duursen completed a certification in mechanical and diagnostic therapy (“the McKenzie method”) through the International McKenzie Institute in New York, New York.
Mr. van Duursen is a member of the Royal Dutch Society of Physiotherapists, the American Physical Therapy Association (including its orthopedic section), the International McKenzie Institute, The North American Spine Society and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Mr. van Duursen is the owner and founder of Colorado Spine Therapy, LLC.
Renée Ostertag, DPT
Renée joined our staff in April 2009.
She has been working as a PT since 2003, graduating with a DPT (Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy) from University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA.
As a lifelong learner, she continues to enhance her knowledge base: since 2003, she obtained a COMT certification (Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist), a second Masters Degree in Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia and a Credential in MDT (Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment, also known as the McKenzie Method).
Renée has a strong background in manual therapy and significant expertise in spinal dysfunction.
She has a keen interest in the role of the brain in a pain experience, and approaches PT with a holistic view incorporating both mind and body in her treatment approaches.
Renée loves spending time with her family and friends, especially if done while enjoying good wine.
As a transplant from California, Renée can be found outside in her spare time - skiing, hiking, or doing anything else outdoors that beautiful Colorado has to offer.
Jeremy Wehking, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Jeremy graduated from the University of Florida with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 2004.
He then completed a two and a half year program through the Manual Therapy Institute to receive his manual therapy certification.
In 2010 he completed an additional one year of training and was awarded Fellow status in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Most recently in 2011 Jeremy became a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist.
Jeremy is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (including its orthopedic section) as well as the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Jeremy moved to Colorado in 2010 and has worked in outpatient orthopedic clinics in Florida, Maryland, and Indiana. He enjoys spending time with his wife and his two furry canine children. He also enjoys running, hiking, and attempts at snowboarding.
Sarah Murane, Administrative Assistant
Sarah has ten years of experience as an administrator, starting with a position she held right out of high school.
Following high school she held several administrative positions while attending college in Mississippi.
After deciding to return to her home state of Colorado, she began her career in the world of physical therapy and worked as the Administrative Assistant for a clinic of which Stefan van Duursen was the Director.
Having really enjoyed working with him in that setting, she was happy to join him as the Administrative Assistant for Colorado Spine Therapy, LLC.
Sarah is married with two daughters.
After the birth of her first child, she decided to take a break from the workforce to stay home and raise her children.
While at home Sarah studied to be certified as a Labor Doula and Postpartum Doula.
She then went on to receive training in lactation and childbirth education.
Shortly after receiving her certifications she started her own business in 2003 and continues this passion part-time as a Doula, Lactation Educator and Childbirth Educator.
Sarah enjoys meeting new people and is committed to providing the type of service that meets the needs of those she works with.
